Pizza and skills

please see below for the skills PowerPoint, I'm rather proud of it.

I will be making 10 for 10 this weekend. I've challenged myself to write 10 case studies to revise for 10 minutes. But first I'm chilling after the marathon study support session this evening

Skills Revision

And here it is - A complete guide to what you need to know for the skills exam.

Now I say complete but YOU have to practice using these skills. There is no point just reading this Powerpoint. You must use past exam papers to practice them, search the web for map skills games.

Remember this is a very different exam style, so you need to get your head around it.

Place Specific Detail

Here's an example of a mind-map using place specific detail. You'll notice I occasionally break my number of words rule but it is solely fact based - I do not explain or write paragraphs.

I have numbers, percentages, places, names. If I included a few of these in any answer about a migration case study it would show the examiner that I am an A* geographer.

Eastern Europe to UK Case study - Download it to see it full screen

We will be working on memorising Place Specific Detail (PSD) over the next week. You should still be doing your own revision and practising your exam answers.

Exam questions

Evaluate the impact of migration to 'your place'.

Explain one change that has occurred in your place and how it effects different groups of people.

For a named place explain why people migrate there.

Closing That Gap

It's not about A*-C, it's about making sure that you get the grade you deserve

Formation of a corrie - quite a good link, we actually studied this in more detail but this is what you would need for a full mark answer.

Erosion is the wearing away of rock(taking it with you) and weathering is the breaking down of rock.

Glacial erosion - The first two minutes clarifies erosion in Mountains

Weathering - This is AMAZING, I am going to marry this guy

Formation of Drumlins - Depositional Landform
